Spider mites?

i think i have spider mites on my plant. we are supossed to get rain today so i brought it outside. the temps are in the mid 40s and lows around 35 or so. will this kill the spider mite.

No, it is unlikely that these temperatures will kill the spider mites. Insecticidal soaps or a 1-2% solution of dishwashing soap may kill the spider mites that these sprays contact, but they do nothing to the spider mite's eggs so the mites will return. Use horticultural oil on your plants. These lightweight oils are very safe to humans and pets, but they smother the mites and their eggs. From the label you will see a warning that caution must be used when using this product on sensitive plants such your palm. Test this product on a leaf before general use. Also, this product is listed as being harmful to humans %26amp; pets. It must be applied outside if used. Finally, this product includes an insecticide. To be effective, you should use a miticide not an insecticide. Mites are not true insects like spiders are not true insects. Insecticides do not have the same effect on mites that it has on true insects.
Reply:You need to get yourself some neem oil. You could also use cinnamite. I actually have the exact same problem right now and I am using neem oil since it has worked well in the past. For an even stronger combination, you could also combine the neem oil with the cinnamite. Taking it outside will not fix your problem. Make sure you spray every few days for 2 weeks and isolate this plant from any others and CLEAN YOUR PLANT AREA very well I would use bleach and water so you don't get a reinfestation.

Spider mites spin fine webs usually at the leaf and stem joint. Leaves will have tiny light colored spots. The mites themselves are the size of this period . but can be seen with the naked eye.
Reply:Occasionally, my roses get spider mites. They're nearly impossible to kill. After trying several of the regular pesticides, a local greenhouse sold me some industrial strength pesticide that will kill them. Check with your local green house. They should be able to point you to a pesticide that will do the job without killing your plat (you didn't say what type).

Reply:oh.. i am sorry ... they are nasty little buggers... the cool temp will help but it is not the solution ... you need some bug spray... make sure to use it and spray under the leaves.. cause that is where the bugs and eggs are .. keeping the plants leaves moist with plain water will also help
