Spiders spell?

is there a natural plant that gives off a smell/fragrant that deters spiders from taking over the rear garden? i'm getting a little fed up off going outside %26amp; getting covered in webs %26amp; big ugly spiders, i am prepared to use pesticide if need be but would rather not have them in the 1st place

regards

Spiders spell?
marigolds
Reply:If you get rid of the spiders you will then have to deal with more harmfull pests.

Spiders are natuers way of getting rid of pests
Reply:At least that part of the garden will be completely fly free!

Apparently the scent of dried hops deters them.
Reply:You're going to have to collect an awful lot of marigolds to keep all those spiders away. Why not stick a picture of birds on the garden fence.
Reply:Yes, marigolds are alleged to repel them, but it is that time of year I'm afraid. Damn things are everywhere. The sort of pesticide you can obtain retail won't have any effect on them.

You could try encouraging birds into the garden, our resident blackbirds are doing very nicely on spiders.
Reply:get an old lady who swallowed a fly to sit at the bottom of the garden, those spiders would be for it then!
