How do I deter spiders from coming into my house?

I live in Northern Ireland and every autumn I get some really huge monster spiders running around my house. I am terrified of spiders but also refuse to hurt or kill them. I have various devices to safely remove them and put them outside but is there anything that would keep them away, for example some kind of scented oil or plant. I clean and dust into all corners regularly so this isnt the problem. Please help - I'm turning into a nervous wreck !

How do I deter spiders from coming into my house?
two solutions, once they have been removed, spray the house with tea tree oil, then get some moth balls and put them under and around the house. They cannot stand them.

1. get bottle of tea tree oil( all natural)

2. get water spray bottle and add water

3. add 4 drops of tea tree oil to water in bottle

4. spray all areas of house: vents, air ducts, closets, corners.

This will not hurt your furniture or paint!!!
Reply:Spray the outside of the house, Most spiders do not survive well indoors. The climate inside is vastly different than what is outside. They will die on their own if they are inside, spraying the threshold will simply speed up the process.

I heard moth balls keep them away
Reply:The only way that you can get rid of spiders in house : is to

vaccum all cob webs. Scented oils would be airfreshners arosol

type spray in an bottle they can't stand that stuff so try it!

Stock up on these in the meantime, or get something like them....

They use electronic impulses that deter them from coming near a certain area....

Good luck :)
Reply:Bay leaves are supposed to deter them. Sprinkle a few around the house. I don't know if it works since the only place in the house we regularly see them is the basement, and we don't spend much time there. But, bay leaves are pretty inexpensive, and if they don't help, you can always use them in cooking!
Reply:I hate when they come in my house too. Spraying the outside foundation and inside baseboards with a repellent that you can pick up in a hardware store should at least keep the ones that are out from getting in. Either do it yourself or have an exterminator do it for you, after all that's their job.
Reply:Do you have access to a basalisk? According to J.K. Rowling spiders will flee from it.

Seriously though, I have exactly the same problem with spiders. All i can suggest is to not let it rule and ruin your life.

Good luck with the spider problem.
Reply:you better call spider man and ask him to take away his friends with him.(just kidding) funny...........
Reply:Most people would get a pet snake, but as you are in Ireland, you might have to make do with an Iguana, because Patrick would not approve.
Reply:run and hide and let someone else deal with them/ im terrified of spiders and the way you describe the one in your home have given me such a case of the heebee jeebees that ive been forced to lift my feet of the ground lol im a wuse i know, good luck
Reply:Put a sign on your door that reads 'No Spiders Allowed'. Alternatively, befriend one spider and offer him a job as a bouncer, you'll not have to pay him mush as spiders work for next to nothing.
Reply:Eeek I feel bad for you I hate spiders. Get an exterminator or try spraying Lemon Pledge along window sill and walls. I heard that helps to deter spiders.
Reply:I get this stuff called One Shot, you spray it around you doors and windows, it will kill them if they cross the spray, but I think the smell alone will keep them away. It last for a few monthes. Good luck.
Reply:I use hedge apples in my basement rafters every year.
Reply:Move to north america
Reply:You must start by making an unfriendly climate in your house for the spiders. That means removing any potential food, i.e. other insects. Remove any habitat for the spiders adjacent to the house outside, i.e. shrubs against the outside walls. Fill all the cracks you can find around windows, doors and base boards. Check under sinks and where the water, electrical, phone, etc utilities come into the house. These actions will help slow their proliferation but if your are convinced that they deserve humane treatment they will keep coming back. Good Luck!!!
Reply:Read this, it tells what attracts them and natural ways to repel them.
Reply:Just be rude to them. Eventually they will get the hint and leave.

Seriously, there isn't an insecticide that gets rid of spiders. The best thing to do is keep their food (bugs) out of your house and to knock down a cobweb everytime you see one.
Reply:Tell them there are a whole bunch of single spiders that live next door? I'm sorry, I don't know.
Reply:Spiders are OK when you get to know them (I do kill Black Widows and Brown Recluse);

The spider weaves a sticky web,

to capture bugs to eat!

What keeps the spider's sticky web from sticking to her feet?

Spider webs are very tricky,

Because, not all the strands are sticky!

Unlike the helpless passing fly,

The spider knows which strands are dry!

Not remember the author I was a child when I learned this. I do believe it was a woman! Ha!!! ;-p
Reply:You can do like the Liberals in the U.S. want to do with the Islamo-Terrorist. You can explain to them why you don't want them to come into your house.

If you are successful the please let us know. The world could use your negoation skills.

If you consider the above rediculous, then call an exterminator to treat your area around your house.
Reply:Tell them "Get Out"!
Reply:I want to mention that you have a good writing ability. It's hard to find people these days who can make a good sentence. As for the spiders, you are right not to kill them. Spiders are very good to the earth and they are quite smart too. Find where they are entering your house and put something foul smelling there....they won't come in.
Reply:Easy: keep the other insects out of your house. The spiders come in because it's an easy meal.

Instead of worrying about spiders, worry about what other infestation there is in your home. The spiders are doing you a favour.
Reply:you need to let a few in!! See these are free pest controls!!!

Spiders might be a sign of the real pest

like Roaches!
Reply:there is that chalk but i dont know if it would work with huge monster spiders. you put a line around your home and if they cross it they die within 6 hours or something to that effect... good luck because i hate spiders too but im too afraid NOT to kill them :)
Reply:Removal of unwanted multi-legged creatures is one of the prime functions of a husband. I suspect that my wife would have dumped me years ago if not for my bug removal duties. On the plus side spiders eat roaches. Better a spider than a roach.
Reply:get a cat
Reply:greetings...this time of year insects are searching for warm dry places. visit your local gardening center and purchase a bottle of malathion. with your garden hose and the bottle feeder for the chemical, spray your landscape around your house. also purchase some raid fogger bug bombs and release them in your house. being sure of course to read and follow the directions first if you've never used them before. repeat the lawn spray one more time within a couple of day's and you'll be set. good luck
Reply:that McHummer guy's right.....

ur english IS good
Reply:I feel for ya! I hate spiders, but I've learned that they keep the rest of the bugs out!!!!! The fly is the dirtiest little creature as far as I know %26amp; spiders eat them %26amp; the ants when they come around in hot weather. I've seen some pretty big spiders in my time %26amp; I've been told by others to put 1 cup of white vinegar with 2 cups water in spray bottle. Spray around edges of windows %26amp; doors %26amp; wherever else you think. They'll go away. Good luck.
