Skin Irritation Question?

I need a list of possibilities...

My friend and I both have small raised spots on our skin in random areas(not a ton) and they're itchy...naturally the more you itch the more inflamed they become. My friend has been on a hike recently in PA. They don't blister, and they're not extremely bad...but they're spreading day by day...they're not chicken pox, not spider bites, and we don't think it's a plant since it's been going on for days (and we washed it)...what could it be?

Please and thanx...

Skin Irritation Question?
since it is the middle of summer, and your friend was hiking, I'm going to suggest heat rash.

If they are red areas with snall dots, and they seem to swell in the general area jsut a bit, then it's a good bet. especially if they are in areas like your neck, inside of elbow, back of knee, ect. Basically any place where your skin rubs it self, or sweat likes to sit. I get heat rash a lot,a nd from what I undersstand, it is like an allergic reaction to your own sweat.

try rincing with cold water several times a day, avoid letting things rub it (NO scratching!), add some benadryl, and you should be fine. in the future, dab/rub a bit of talcom powder or cornstarch onto earea that you fear will get heat rash ahead of time, and that should prevent it.

hope this helps! if not, i'd ask a doctor. maybe jsut a phone call woudl take care of it. No matter what, get benadryl, or another cortizone-type cream.
Reply:There are lots of possible reasons; allergic skin reaction, fleas, or scabies to name a few. Try some cortisone cream and if that doesn' t help definitley get to a dermatologist.
Reply:hmmm...well, im not a specialist, and i adivse you to see a doctor if it gets serious, but i assume its one of these:

1) A plant in the "Poison" family (poison oak, posion ivy, poison sumac). Found in tons of places (even on local sidewalks). Maybe your friend picked it up and you touched their shirt, towel, pillow, etc. It's very spreadable!

2) Excema. (these are small, red bumps on the skin in strange places. they usually are aquired by a lot of exposure to sun light).

try the following:

Aveeno baths. They are these small packets of chemicals with an oatmeal base that you bour into a bathtub. it gives directions on the box. Aveeno baths completely got rid of my poison oak last summer. They get rid of itching, scarring, and all other marks.

Benadryl or other hydrocortisone medicene. Whether you want to use the pills or the cream (or both), Benadryl and other generic itching antibiotics should work to get rid of these bumps.

Are you sure its not spider bites? If you sure, then I guess its not, but its always a possibility.
Reply:sounds like hives due to and irritation cause by plants or something you could of ate or even a soap or lotion used. The best thing is to take some Claritin and Benadryl. After that get some Anti itch cream with at least 1% hydrocortisone in it to reduce the bumbs and itch. Aveeno makes a great one that sooth the skin and has oatmeal and Aleo and Vitamin E. Do all of this and you should be good as new with in 24 hours. Good Luck and dont scratch!!!!
