How can i rid mite off plants?

i am growing at home from seed two piemento de padron%26lt;peppers from padron in spain%26gt;

two days ago i noticed thousands of what i can only describe as minature spiders on one of the plants and they are suffocating it. many of the leaves looked like they had been near extreme heat and wilted then dropped off and this all happened extremely quickly. does anyone know what this is and how to control it. they are white in colour and seem to make some sort of fibre

Reply:Best advise i received on killing plant mites is to fill a spray bottle with a soap mixture (like dish soap and water) an spray them covering them . They can suck the life out of a plant in very short time. Always worked on my roses but i had to keep up on it because new ones always show up. Good luck!
Reply:If there are no infants in the house spraying malathion in water gets rid of the mites. So does a suspension of Sevin(Union Carbide).

Often one can get adequate control with just soap water. Recommended if children and pets are around. This has to be the ordinary soap used for bathing or washing and not the detergents used in the kitchen or washing machines.

If the plants are in pots inside, it is better to do all this outside and bring back the plants.
Reply:I'm not sure these recipes will work on the bugs that are killing your plant, but here are some natural bug killer recipes:

Marigold Spray

1 cup boiling water

1 cup marigold flowers

Pour boiling water over flowers and leave overnight. Strain and discard the flowers. Spray kills aphids.

Flour Spray-Pesticide

1 cup white flour

1 cup milk

5 cups water

Mix thoroughly and spray on plant. This mixture is supposed to suffocate the bugs. It will look AWFUL on the plant but it washes off without harming the plant or you. Be sure to completely clean out the spray bottle after each use or it will be clogged so badly you'll have to throw it out.

Tansy Spray - Homemade Pesticide

1 cup boiling water

1 cup tansy leaves

Pour boiling water over the tansy in a preheated lidded jar. Put lid on at once, without sniffing the steam. When cool, strain out the leaves. Spray onto plants every 2-3 days as it breaks down quickly. Wash plants thoroughly before eating. Can cause hallucinations.

Good luck!
