Little white spidermites?

I have a problem with some of my house plants, they seem to have tiny little spider insects on them chewing away at the leaves and in some cases the roots, they literly chewed the roots off of my aloevera plant and killed it ,the plant basically just fell out of the pot, any advice as what I should do.

Little white spidermites?
get a squirt bottle and fill it with soapy water. spray your plants down soaking them pretty good. A couple of treatments and those pesky little creatures will be dead and gone. simple treatment taught to me by my dearly departed grandmother that had the greenest thumb in the world!

Good luck
Reply:Kill them
Reply:The spider mites are the first problem; but they don't eat roots. The roots can rot because the compost is too wet (you can add grit for drainage) or because of vine weevils. They're little white grubs that eat the roots.
Reply:wash your plants with mild soap and water in the shower or bathtub for convenience. make sure you get under the leaves. When you first notice them you can pick at them with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol.
Reply:It sounds like you you have spider mites but, have you seen any webbing on the plants? Mites don't usually eat the leaves they discolor, spot or rust the leaves and they fall off.

Wash plants with soapy water (2 teaspoons mild detergent per gallon of water) and a soft brush, or cloth, making sure to wash the undersides of leaves. When the weather where you live is nice and warm take them outside and hose them down after you wash them. This will kill most plant pests. Don't bring in any new plants till you have killed the insects you have on your plants now. Also, change the soil in case there are eggs.
