Are you ever afraid that you might bring dangerous spiders into your home when you bring your plants back in?

Ever since I saw a medical show about this lady who had got bitten by a spider while decorating an Xmas tree, I have been afraid. They said it was a brown-spider. She waited so long to get treatment and her whole arm, hand and down her side turned black. They said she could have died.

Are you ever afraid that you might bring dangerous spiders into your home when you bring your plants back in?
I wouldn't live in fear of spiders. The chance you were bitten by a poisonous spider is pretty remote. They like dark places and your plants like the sun.
Reply:Dear questioner,

I shall let others here give you gardening advice. I’m here just to reassure you that you have nothing to worry about.

Out of the 40, 000 species of spiders known to science, only a handful (maybe 20) are known to pose a lethal threat to humans. On top of that, ever since the advent of antivenom, spider-related deaths have been exceedingly rare, or virtually non-existent.

Most of our fears of spiders – are fears. Being solitary, spiders would rather keep out of sight from humans and stay in their dark corners. They only use their venoms to immobilize and digest their prey, which are usually bugs. Spiders are not at all the demons they are painted out to look like in our myths.

Have fun with your tree.
Reply:Sounds like a lot of worry over nothing.
Reply:I used to be afraid of spiders. I too got my fear because of hearing a story about them. But the chances of being bitten by a spider, let alone a dangerous one, are very, very, very slim.

In all my 73 yrs I have never been bitten and I have been in close contact to them.

I have have raised house plants while living in the city and never saw a single spider and now live in the country and see them all the time and still not been bitten, so I don't think you need be concerned. Chances of you getting bitten are the same as being bitten by a cobra.
Reply:Naa, but i dont like em.
