There is a spider the size of a quarter with a red body. Do you know if it's dangerous?

We live in souteastern Texas. They were mainly on the tomato plants. And I mean when I moved the plants (they were in planters) there were 3-4 of them together. they have thick long legs and very creepy! I want to know if they are poisonous or not or anything i can find out about them and how to get rid of them. thank you in advance....arachnophobia!!!!!!

911 Call Orkin. Those are red recluses, very poisonous and deadly. Good luck.
Reply:Sounds like a kind of orb weaver. As long as they aren't black with thin legs, a bulbous body with a red hourglass on the stomach....you should be okay.

Trying googling spider and your state and see what pops up. i hate spiders....I don't care if they eat bugs....I hate 'em.
Reply:In the US only two spiders are really poisonous -- black widow and the brown recluse. Hobo spiders, in the North West and Canada have bites that are considered medically significant. Tissue damage at the bite site results but bites are not life threatening.

Use Yahoo Image Search to look for pictures of the named poisonous spiders.
Reply:Dude I totally know what your saying I hate spiders and they hate me so i know how bad a relationship is with them. I would immendently call PLUNETS or some local bug extermaner and get rid of them.
