How can I get rid of spiders in my family room downstairs? An ant trap for spiders? Natural option Eucalyptus?

Our house was vanant for 3 years and we suffered some water damage to our cedar siding. Over the next six months we'll make necessary repairs but in the interim we need to find a solution for killing the spiders we currently have. I'd like a safe and natural way like using plants spiders don't like or if there is a ant trap like insecticide for spiders this would be great. Thanks for the suggestions!

The most natural way is to live there. The spiders came when there was nobody there(3 years) to wreck their webs. Constant cleaning, drives the spiders away to some other quiet spot.

Any insecticides that strong to kill spiders will kill you as well.
Reply:Well spiders are very hard to kill, exterminators will not guarantee spider's will be gone unlike other bugs ants ect...a good product though that is natural and works for all bugs is a KONK...they have a website and I am sure you can buy one at a local farm and garden type store. It squirts out a fine mist every so many minutes like a airfreshner and the chrysanthemum flower extract is a deterant to all bugs including spiders. It is very safe for humans, you can read all about it on the website www.konk.com.au.
Reply:Normally I'd say to let loose praying mantids, but as cool as mantids are, you probably don't want insects in your house either, I'm guessing...

The biggest thing is to get rid of whatever the spiders are eating. Figure out what other insects are in your house, and treat for those.

Also, put DE down along the edges of the floor in your house. It's incredibly environmentally friendly, and most spiders won't like it at all; they'll eventually move out.
