Bugs on Basil? What are they and how do i get rid of them?

I noticed tiny black dots on the undersides of my basil plants, there's a bit of a webby stuff on some of the plants as well... not sure if its from the bugs or from a spider. What are these tiny bugs, they crawl, haven't seen them fly yet and how do i get rid of them? preferably organically ?

Sounds like you have spider mites. These things destroy plants by sucking out the juices from the undersides of the leaves of plants. Much easier to prevent an attack rather than destroying the critters once they are there.

If you find Spider Mites you must act fast and hit them hard with either a bleach solution (1 tablespoon of bleach to 1 gallon of 95°F, pH balanced, water in a spray bottle.) or use a miticide with Abamectin or lindane in it. That seems to work best. There are insect predators that can help in providing some CONTROL but this does not mean 100% eradication and in a consumable crop that is what we are after. The predator mite can help to control them if chemical sprays are not your thing.

Neem Oil also works great if you are looking for an organic alternative. You can also use a pyrthium spray or bomb to kill the suckers. Go to a nursery or hydroponics store, they have the equipment you need to kill those nasty bugs.
Reply:are they indoors? in a pot?
Reply:I don't know what they are but 7 dust will kill them.
