I hate SPIDER MITES :{}?

I am trying to bring a plant back to life for my sister-in-law and have done so successfully so far however, now that it is finally growing and healthy I noticed that it had spider mites one day and promptly sprayed the small plant down and changed the soil; along with every other plant...very irratating and meticulous let me tell ya!

This is the third time cleaning that darn plant and it still keeps getting spider mites. What do I do?

I have tried the soapy water and the vinegar in a spray bottle but it only works for so long and then the bugs are back.

I am worried becuase I have a house full of plants and I do not want to contaminate them, ya know... :(

Any advice on why they keep coming back? What can I do to prevent them?

or does my spray bottle method suck?

Anything would be great, thankyou.

Reply:This is my recipe for spider mites. It works well for me. I have a green house with 100 + plants so I don't need those little critters~

Spider mites and whiteflies are drawn to indoor plants. To reduce the chances of these pests attacking your plants, give them a weekly shower. Take care to thoroughly rinse both the tops and the undersides of the leaves. To treat whiteflies, use an insecticidal soap at five day intervals or spray with a solution of four parts water to three parts rubbing alcohol -- add a squirt of dish soap for good measure -- and keep the plant out of the light until the alcohol dries completely.

Soap spray and alcohol spray also work for spider mites, and you might also try buttermilk spray: mix 1/2 cup buttermilk with 4 cups wheat flour to 5 gallons of water. Quarantine infested plants until you are sure that the insects are irradiated. In extreme cases, you can strip the leaves off the plant and cut it back by half. Don't worry, you won't kill it, and you'll soon see signs of new growth.
Reply:Get a good miticide such as Cygon 2E or other product made especially for spider mites.

You will need to make a couple of repeat applications every 10 days or so.

Take the plant outside when you are spraying it and clean up the area where it is growing in the house with soap and water before bringing it back inside.
