They're bright red, about one centimeter long and look like a cross between a spider and an ant. I've searched the web and I can't find anything about them. They appeared very suddenly; I didn't see any sign of them the morning I weeded my garden, but that evening there was maybe a dozen crawling over this one pepper.
What are these weird bugs that have infested my bell pepper plant?
Sounds like a pepper weevil. But they look more like beetles, not spider/ant. Try and pick them off when you see them. They chew up your leaves and peppers, but if you have a big infestation, then they could kill your plants.
Reply:Don't worry too much about what kind, buy some SEVEN powder. That usually takes care of most garden pests and seems to be non-harmful to plants. When I get bugs I don't mess with the duster, I put it on the plants by the handful. Make sure you wash them good before you eat them.
Reply:Sounds like a red spider mite.

Reply:Have you ever seen...Invasion of the Body Snatchers? Have you seen strange people carrying pods around and handing them over to people they would never normally talk to? (Like a guy in a business suit handing over a pod to a janitor?)
Are the bell peppers sprouting a strange flower now?
Maybe tonight....
